5 Things You Need to Know about #VANvFCD
Couldn't Get to 10
FC Dallas was in first place in MLS' Western Conference for nine straight weeks after beating Atlanta United FC 3-2 on July 4, 2018. After playing to a 0-0 draw against Columbus on September 15, Dallas is now second in the West with 50 points, one point behind first-place Sporting Kansas City heading into MLS' Week 30.
Putting the Playoff Picture into Focus
According to FiveThirtyEight, FC Dallas has a greater than 99% chance to make the MLS postseason and a 56% chance to earn a first-round bye. The top two teams in each conference earn a first-round bye.
Finding Success away from Frisco
FC Dallas is currently 5-5-3 away from Toyota Stadium in 2018, which is tied for fifth in MLS with a .500 winning percentage. The best road record in club history occurred during the MLS shootout era (no ties) when FCD went 8-8-0 in 1998. Dallas is one win away from equaling the best road record outside of the shootout era [occurred in 2007 (6-7-2) and 2011 (6-7-4)].
Against Vancouver
FC Dallas is 9-5-5 all-time against the Whitecaps and 2-4-4 in matches played in Vancouver. The teams are meeting for the second time this season. The Caps' Kei Kamara converted a penalty kick in the 100th minute, which tied a record for the latest goal scored in regulation time in an MLS match, as the clubs played to a 2-2 draw May 19 at Toyota Stadium. Dallas has not won in its last seven visits to BC Place (3L-4D), including a 1-1 draw in Vancouver on June 17, 2017.
About Vancouver
Vancouver is currently in seventh place in MLS' Western Conference. The Whitecaps saw their two-game winning streak end last Saturday after losing 2-1 to Seattle Sounders FC at BC Place.
