FC Dallas Sends Rights of First Refusal on Defender Mikey Ambrose

FRISCO, Texas- FC Dallas has traded its Right of First Refusal on Homegrown player Mikey Ambrose to Orlando City SC in exchange for a conditional third-round selection in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.

Ambrose, 22, joined the FC Dallas Academy in 2009 and served as captain of the FCD U-18 squad prior to playing three years at the University of Maryland. The defender made 71 appearances and won two ACC and one Big Ten Conference tournament championships during his time with the Terps. The El Paso, Texas, native scored one goal in seven appearances for the U.S. U-17, U-18 and U-20 national teams. Ambrose played 12 games, totaling 566 minutes for the FC Dallas Reserves in 2011 and 2012.

Ambrose was Orlando City B's first player signing ahead of the team's inaugural 2016 season in the United Soccer League. The left back has featured in 18 games for OCB and is a mainstay in head coach Anthony Pulis' starting XI.
