FC Dallas News Release

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas has loaned midfielder/forward Fabian Castillo to Trabzonspor FC in Trabzon, Turkey, through the end of 2016 with an option to buy, the club announced today.

FC Dallas acquired a then-18-year-old Castillo from Deportivo Cali on March 7, 2011, and developed the Colombian player into one of Major League Soccer's top young players. In 2015 Castillo was named the No. 1 player under the age of 24 in Major League Soccer, earning his first career All-Star nod after scoring nine goals and logging nine assists in Dallas' regular-season run. The solid season came on the heels of a breakout 2014 that saw the Colombian tally a career-best 10 goals and four assists through 27 games. Overall in five and a half seasons with the club, Castillo notched 34 goals and 30 assists through 159 regular-season games, plus one goal in eight playoff appearances.

"We want to thank Fabian for his time with FC Dallas, and his contributions during the last five years," said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. "It's been our pleasure to watch Fabian grow from the teenager we all first met in 2011 to the exciting player he is today. We wish him all the best in Turkey."

Trabzonspor has won six S-per Lig titles since its inception in 1967, most recently finishing 12th in the Turkish S-per Lig in 2015-16.

FC Dallas is currently sitting on top of the Major League Soccer table with 44 points through 24 games. Dallas opens Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League group play tonight at Toyota Stadium before traveling to L.A. next week for the semifinal round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Transaction: FC Dallas loans Fabian Castillo to Trabzonspor FC in Trabzon, Turkey on Aug. 4, 2016. The loan is through the end of 2016 and includes an option to purchase.
