FC Dallas Release 2005 Regular Season Schedule

Dallas, Tex. – FC Dallas will open the 2005 regular season Major League Soccer season at the Cotton Bowl on April 2 against the Chicago Fire before leaving for their first two road matches at Colorado on April 9 and at CD Chivas (Los Angeles) on April 16. Kickoff times and the broadcast schedule for all the matches will be released at a later date.

For the first time since 1999, each of the League's 12 clubs will play a total of 32 matches with the addition of the two new expansion teams (Real Salt Lake and CD Chivas). The home schedule for FC Dallas features 16 matches. Six of those matches will be played at the Cotton Bowl on April 2, April 23, May 18, June 18, June 22 and July 2. The remaining 10 home matches for FC Dallas will be held at the Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center from August 6 – October 15. FC Dallas will open up their new stadium against the MetroStars on August 6, one week following the MLS All-Star Game.

FC Dallas competes in Major League Soccer's Western Conference, and will play 20 total Western Conference matches against CD Chivas, Colorado, Los Angeles, Real Salt Lake and San Jose. FC Dallas will play each Western Conference team four times, two at home and two on the road.

Against the Eastern Conference, FC Dallas plays 12 total matches against Chicago, Columbus, DC United, Kansas City, the MetroStars and New England. FC Dallas will play each Eastern Conference opponent twice, once at home and once on the road.

The longest home stand for FC Dallas will be a five-game stretch played in Frisco from Aug. 27 – Sept. 21 (CD Chivas, San Jose, DC United, Real Salt Lake and Los Angeles). Their longest road trip is a four-match span on the road from May 22 – June 12 (Chivas, DC United, Real Salt Lake and Chicago).

Throughout the 2005 season, FC Dallas will appear in 23 matches on Saturday, five on Wednesday, three on Sunday and one on Friday.

FC Dallas, a charter member club of Major League Soccer, will begin play in the new 21,193 seat soccer stadium on August 6, 2005. The 117-acre facility will be located at the intersection of Main Street and Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. The Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center will accommodate Major League Soccer matches, major concerts, international soccer matches and High School football.
