Fire Unbeaten in First Two Preseason Matches

Chicago Fire FC News Release


The Chicago Fire is undefeated in its first two preseason matches, as the club defeated the University of Central Florida 4-1 Thursday and Brimstone Cup rival FC Dallas 3-1 Friday at the IMG Academy. The club will look to continue its hot streak today when it takes on the U.S. U-17 National Team at the IMG Academy at 4:00 p.m. ET. The "Men in Red" are scheduled to take part in three more exhibition matches in Florida before returning to Chicago for a four-day break. The Fire will resume its preseason activities in Guadalajara, Mexico and Jackson, MS. For a complete listing of the club's preseason activities, please see below.

* The Fire's sister team Monarcas Morelia lost its first encounter of the 2005 Clausura season Saturday night, falling 1-0 to Cruz Azul at Estadio Azul in Mexico City. Despite the loss, the "Monarchs" are tied for 1st place (with Tecos) in its division with 10 points (3-1-1).

* The West Michigan Fire Juniors last week announced that the club has secured the rights to the West Michigan Edge W-League (Women's) franchise, with immediate effect. The name of the team will be the West Michigan Firewomen.
