FRISCO, Texas "" FC Dallas (5-5-2, 17 points) gave up a second-half goal to Chivas USA's Marco Delgado but found a way to salvage a point as Fabian Castillo netted his third goal of the year in a 1-1 draw tonight at Toyota Stadium.

FC Dallas controlled possession throughout the first 18 minutes of the match, aided by Chivas USA, which was content to defend in numbers and wait for a counterattack. The visitors' first opportunity came in the 19th minute when Leandro Barrera turned his defender and appeared to be in on goal. But FC Dallas right back Zach Loyd snuffed out the chance with a well-timed slide tackle.

The match began to open up around the 30th minute, when Chivas USA earned a corner kick. FC Dallas goalkeeper Raul Fernandez came off his line to grab the ball and spread it wide to Michel on the left flank. The Brazilian lobbed a ball across the area that was headed on target by Jamaican Je-Vaughn Watson, but Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy was in position to make a simple save.

Three-minutes later, FC Dallas earned a corner of its own and was unlucky not to pick up a goal on the play when Michel struck a perfect in-swinging cross to the head of FC Dallas captain Matt Hedges. The 24-year-old snapped a header on frame from close range but once again Kennedy was in position to make a play on the ball, knocking it down in front of him before defender Eric Avila ushered it away from danger.

The second half began much like the first, in which FC Dallas controlled possession 63-37, but Chivas USA saw its chance to go-ahead and took it in the 60th minute when Martin Rivero switched the ball to the far corner of the area, where Mauro Rosales was able to bring the long pass down in stride. Rosales went past his defender, walked down the end line and delivered a sharp pass into the center of the six-yard box for Delgado, who finished with his first touch, just inside the post.

Chivas USA nearly went ahead 2-0 in the 71st minute when Rivero found himself with ample time and space at the top of the box. The Argentinean attempted to beat Fernandez low to his left side, but the FC Dallas goalkeeper made an outstanding save to push the ball wide of the post.

Following the goal, FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja brought on additional firepower in David Texeira and Andres Escobar but the equalizer came from Castillo, who battled through an injury to remain in the game in the 78th minute and scored in the 83rd.

The service came from Jair Benitez, who sent in the first cross from a corner kick, then found the ball at his feet again following a failed clearance attempt by Chivas USA. Benitez's second ball looked destined for Blas Perez, but the striker jumped out of the way at the last second to let the pass continue on into the six-yard box. Castillo was there to collect the cross and slip a quick shot past Kennedy to make the final score, 1-1.
