
FC Dallas Announces 2014 Team Awards

FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, Nov. 18) - Team captain Matt Hedges was named Defensive MVP while Fabian Castillo earned Team MVP for the 2014 season, FC Dallas announced today.
The selections were determined by the FC Dallas technical staff.
Hedges, 24, matched career highs in games started (32) and goals (3) this season. The University of North Carolina product also picked up his first career assist on a game-winning goal scored by Blas Perez in the 88th minute of a 2-1 victory against Toronto FC on April 19. Hedges only missed two games all season, helping FC Dallas compile a 1.32 goals against average and six shutouts in the regular season. The FC Dallas defense allowed 45 goals in 2014, the eighth fewest in franchise history.
On the offensive side of the ball, Castillo, 22, also matched his previous career high in games started (26). The Colombian logged more minutes (2,282) and scored as many goals this season (10) as he did in his previous three seasons in Major League Soccer combined. He also doubled his previous career high (16) in shots on goal (32).
