
Marco Pappa, Diego Valeri, Erick "Cubo" Torres and Landon Donovan nominated for Awards

NEW YORK (Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014) - Univision Deportes, the sport division of Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced the 25 categories and nominees for the inaugural Premios Univision Deportes (Univision Sports Awards). Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Marco Pappa, Portland Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri and Chivas USA forward Erick "Cubo" Torres are all nominated for the MLS Player of the Year award. Torres is also up for Goal of the Year with his spectacular bicycle kick goal scored against the Montreal Impact on July 5, 2014. LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan is nominated for Best Artistic Performance by an Athlete, based on his portrayal in a commercial.
Awards will be presented to 25 winners, celebrating their passion and excellence in sports along with their connection to Hispanic American sports fans. All 25 award categories are listed below.

Premios Univision Deportes winners will be decided by fans and a diverse committee of sports personalities, including journalists, broadcasters, and retired world class athletes. Fan selected awards include Best Goal, Best Extreme Sports Athlete, Best Social Post of the Year and Best Artistic Performance by an Athlete. Fans can vote once a day per category at univisiondeportes.com/PremiosUD through Sunday, December 14 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Separately, Univision Deportes is conducting a nationwide search for everyday heroes who harness the power of sports to serve and improve their communities for the recently announced "For the Love of the Game" award. The winner of this award will receive a $25,000 cash prize to recognize their efforts and an all-expense paid trip to attend the Premios Univision Deportes gala in Miami.
Premios Univision Deportes will air on UniMás on Thursday, December 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET with a simulcast on UDN (Univision Deportes Network).
