
FC Cincinnati Academy Roundup: October 23-24

FC Cincinnati News Release
The FC Cincinnati Academy stayed home this weekend for 10 matches in the Queen City, four on Saturday and six on Sunday. The Orange and Blue welcomed local competition Kings Hammer Soccer Club as well as Chicago Fire FC Academy and Midwest United out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
After a 1-2-1 Saturday, the Young Garys came away with four wins Sunday, many of which came in dominant fashion.
Here's a look at how each academy age group fared:
U13 | Saturday: FC Cincinnati Academy 0, Kings Hammer 0
In the local rivalry match, neither team scored despite each side having a few chances. Kerick Kohler and Booker Gifford helped keep a clean sheet in net for the Orange and Blue.
U13 | Sunday: FC Cincinnati Academy 3, Midwest United 2
Luis McVicker scored his first goal of the season right before the halftime whistle to put FCCA up, 1-0. Anson Sentor then earned a penalty but had to wait for a 30-minute lightning delay before he converted from the spot. One minute later, Sentor then curled a superb shot past the Midwest goalie to give to put the hosts up 3-0. Midwest scored twice afterwards from the penalty spot but the Orange and Blue held on for the win.
U14 | Saturday: FC Cincinnati Academy 3, Kings Hammer 1
Blake Koch opened up the scoring after Ezequiel Bautista set him up to lob the ball over the keeper from 20 yards out. Bautista then turned from provider to goal scorer by scoring two himself against his former club.
U14 | Sunday: FC Cincinnati Academy 0, Midwest United 1
In a tight match, Midwest United edged FC Cincinnati Academy, 1-0.
U15 | Saturday: FC Cincinnati Academy 1, Chicago Fire FC Academy 4
Shaun Dickerson scored the lone goal for the FCCA U15 squad.
U15 | Sunday: FC Cincinnati Academy 1, Midwest United 0
In another game that was delayed due to lightning, the Young Garys bounced back from Saturday's loss with a win. JP Piedra slotted home the winner after Sam Weeter fed him through for a 1-on-1 with the keeper. Jack Madsen kept the clean sheet in net.
U16 | Sunday: FC Cincinnati Academy 5, Midwest United 0
The U16 squad rolled in the age group's lone match of the weekend. Marcel Ruszel netted a brace, while Pablo Pujols, Diego Hoenderkamp and Justin Hylton scored one goal each. Zac Kacic and Eli Cogan in goal kept the clean sheet.
U17 | Saturday: FC Cincinnati Academy 0, Chicago Fire FC Academy 1
In a tightly contested match which could have gone either way, a mistake out of the back resulted in the Fire's lone goal in the win for the visitors.
U17 | Sunday: FC Cincinnati Academy 2, Midwest United 1
Ryder Mills scored from the penalty spot for the second week running. With the game tied, 1-1, Zach Kennedy scored the game-winner with five minutes to go in the match as the U17 team bounced back with a win.
U19 | Sunday: FC Cincinnati Academy 3, Midwest United 0
In a one-sided match, FCCA dominated possession of the ball and were able to put three on the board. Ben Goulding, Gerardo Valenzuela and Danny Samways each scored one goal. For the third week running, the team kept a clean sheet with Paul Walters and Jack Moxom playing 45 minutes each in net.
The Young Garys stay home in Cincinnati, with games split between Milford High School and Mercy Health Training Center for five matches on Saturday. The FC Cincinnati Academy welcome Vardar Soccer Club from Michigan.The match times are as follows:

U14 v Vardar - 3 p.m. - Milford High School
U17 v Vardar - 5 p.m. - MHTC
