Fargo Force Select Kyle Sylvester First Overall in Phase 2

May 6, 2014 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release

FARGO, ND -The Fargo Force selected forward Kyle Sylvester with the first pick overall, along with nine other forwards, twelve defensemen and one goaltender in Phase 2 of the 2014 USHL Draft on Tuesday for a total of 24 draft picks.

Kyle Sylvester, forward out of Warroad, MN, just finished up his senior season for Warroad High School where he put up 83 points in 25 games, with 36 goals and 47 assists. The coaching staff headed into the draft looking to fill the offense that was lacking from the previous season and Sylvester, being one of the top offensive players in the state of MN, looks to be a perfect fit to help fill that role.

Each year, the drafts are held in which every USHL team participates in several rounds to select players for the 2014-15 season and beyond. For Phase 2, USHL teams selected players from multiple birth years looking to fill their protected lists with players who will compete for roster spots for the 2014-15 season. Phase 2 continued until all USHL teams had secured 45 players on their Initial Protected List. That list includes affiliate players from the 2013-14 season, players selected in Phase 1, and players signed to a tender.
