Hawks Wrap up USHL Draft

Waterloo, Iowa- On the eve of the Clark Cup Championship Series this weekend, the Waterloo Black Hawks took time to harvest a new crop of players to thrill the fans at Young Arena during 2014/15.

"To all of the prospects selected yesterday and today, we say "˜congratulations and welcome to the Waterloo Black Hawks family'," said Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "We couldn't be more thrilled to have this group joining us and look forward to working with each of them as the process continues in the coming weeks with our camps over the summer."

The Hawks made eight selections on Monday during Phase I of the USHL Draft, which focused on players born in 1998. Twenty-two more picks were made Tuesday in Phase II. All totaled, Waterloo chose 15 forwards, 11 defensemen, and four goaltenders. A complete list of selected players follows below:

The Black Hawks exchanged their first Phase I pick in order to sign defenseman Sam Rossini during the league's pre-draft tender period last week.

On Tuesday, the Hawks also sent draft picks to the Sioux City Musketeers in order to acquire forward Brock Boeser for next season. Committed to the University of Wisconsin, Boeser spent much of the winter skating for Burnsville High School in Minnesota. He appeared in eight USHL regular season games for the Musketeers, notching three goals and two assists, then added one more goal in eight playoff appearances.

The Black Hawks open the Clark Cup Championship Series against the Indiana Ice Friday. Games One and Two of the best-of-five affair will be played at Young Arena and good seats are available for the matchups.
