Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Dubuque Fighting Saints came out with a vengeance, but could not keep the game in reach. The Chicago Steel opened the scoring with a hat trick from Adam Fantilli and never looked back en route to a 6-3 win over the Fighting Saints on Friday night at the Mystique Community Ice Center.
Chicago gained the momentum with a late goal off the stick of Fantilli at the 19:56 mark of the first period. From a severe angle, the second-year forward slid the puck five hole on Philip Svedebäck to give Chicago the lead.
He continued the scoring at 4:31 on a deceptive back pass setup from Jayden Perron at 4:31, and converted on an odd-man rush at 7:27 to increase Chicago's lead to 3-0. Tristan Lemyre and Connor Kurth both scored to get the Fighting Saints back within two, but it was the Steel who would eventually pull away.
Sam Lipkin and Andon Cerbone both scored to open the third period to extend the lead to 6-2. Stephen Halliday notched a multi-point game with a goal at 16:38.
Chicago goaltender Nick Haas frustrated the Fighting Saints with a 33 save performance. He made 13 saves in the first period alone to keep the Saints off the board. Svedebäck turned aside 20 shots fired towards the Fighting Saints' net on Friday.
The Fighting Saints return to action for a full weekend set at the Mystique Community Ice Center to face off against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Tickets are available at DubuqueFightingSaints.com.
