Chicago Steel News Release

DUBUQUE, IOWA - The Chicago Steel (11-2-3-0; 25 pts.) rode forward Adam Fantilli's second career USHL hat trick to a 6-3 victory on the road against the Dubuque Fighting Saints (7-2-2-2; 18 pts.) at Mystique Community Ice Center on Friday night.

The Steel enjoyed a standout performance from netminder Nick Haas, who improved his record to 7-1-0-0 in net after a 33-save performance including a flawless 13-save opening period.

Fantilli totaled a four-point night with the game's first three goals and a helper on the fourth, matching his USHL career-best in the win. Forwards Joe Miller, Sam Lipkin and Andon Cerbone added markers.

It didn't take long for the 'save of the game' courtesy of Nick Haas. Just a minute into the action, the Buffalo, N.Y., native shut down a point-blank chance from Fighting Saints forward Kenny Connors after the puck bounced from behind the goal line to the stick of Connors right in front of the crease. Already down in the butterfly position, Haas lunged to his left, snaring the shot with his glove to keep the Fighting Saints off the board early.

Dubuque gained the momentum in the first period by peppering 13 shots on net compared to six for Chicago but it was a goal with just 3.5 seconds left that put the Steel in front.

From near his own goal line, Lukas Gustafsson found Joe Miller outside the Steel offensive zone who left the puck for Adam Fantilli. Fantilli breezed to the goal line and let go a sharp- angle shot that beat Philip Svedback on his near side.

Fantilli led the offensive attack in the middle frame, adding two markers to register his second career USHL hat trick.

Off of an offensive zone faceoff, Jayden Perron caught a puck behind the Dubuque net and no- looked a pass to Fantilli who took advantage of the half-empty cage from the left side of the Steel zone.

Just three minutes later, after a misfire by the Fighting Saints in their own offensive zone, Joe Miller carried the puck with Fantilli driving the net. Miller fed Fantilli who got a shot from his forehand past Svedback, putting the Steel ahead 3-0.

Tristan Lemyre, tallied his eighth goal of the season for Dubuque, putting a stop to the offensive takeover from Fantilli and the Steel.

Just as Dubuque was ready to mount a comeback, the Fighting Saints gave Chicago a chance on the man advantage as Miller scored his fifth of the season with just under five minutes to go in the middle frame. Miller, a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, dropped to one knee in the slot,

firing home a one-timer from Jackson Blake. Fantilli factored in with the secondary assist, picking up his fourth point of the night.

Connor Kurth picked up a loose puck in front of the net right before the buzzer for the second period, cutting the deficit to 4-2 entering the third.

The Steel put the game away, scoring two more goals to balloon the lead to 6-2.

Steel co-captain Sam Lipkin got his ninth of the year, now second on the team behind Fantilli, with a rebound behind Svedback as he fought off a Fighting Saints defender on his back.

Andon Cerbone capped the Steel scoring with his second of the year, a power play goal, after a zone entry with excellent puck movement from Anthony Dowd and Lukas Gustafsson.

Stephen Halliday chipped in a goal for Dubuque to seal the final score of 6-3, a convincing win by the Steel, their third in as many tries this season against the Fighting Saints.
