Force Shut out by Musketeers
November 13, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release
Powerful forechecking from both sides kept the SOG total to just 37. But it was the Musketeers that prevailed scoring a goal in each period and shutting down the Force's offense to take home a 3-0 win in night one of the two game series.
Much of the opening period remained scoreless and neither team saw many scoring opportunities, nevertheless the Musketeers outshot the Force 7-1 in the opening frame. Sioux City forward Grant Slukynsky broke the 0-0 tie with 4:04 left to play. He snuck a rebound through traffic and past Force netminder Anton Castro to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead heading into the locker room.
The Force came out hard in the second, but Sioux City shut down their momentum quick with a goal just 1:35 into the period. The remainder of the second was scoreless, once again the Musketeers continued led in shots on goal, this time 10-7.
Fargo saw the majority of their scoring opportunities in the third, but they couldn't get anything past Sioux City netminder Alex Tracy. The Musketeers added another goal at 5:09 in the final frame and took home a 3-0 lead in night one of the series, the final SOG tally leaned in favor of the Musketeers 22-15.
The two teams are back at it again tomorrow night with a 6:05pm CT face off at the Tyson Events Center. The game can be streamed via www.hockeytv.com.
