June 19, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release
Spokane, WA -Canadians slugger Balbino Fuenmayor is quickly wearing out his welcome in Spokane. Vancouver's first baseman continued his torrid start to the season Monday night, drilling a long home run over The Black Book Depot and driving in three runs in the Canadians 9-1 victory over the Indians.
Fuenmayor has picked up nine hits in the season's first four games, including a pair of majestic home runs and a league-high eight RBI, as Vancouver has run roughshod over the Indians pitching staff. The Canadians collected 13 total hits in tonight's game, including two each from Nicholas Baligod, Jordan Leyland, Dan Klein, and Matt Johnson.
Lost amidst Vancouver's offensive barrage was a strong start from Spokane's Abel De Los Santos. The precocious right-hander from Puerto Plato, Dominican Republic held the Canadians to two earned runs over 4.1 innings, walking two and striking out six. Southpaw Joseph Burns struck out three in two innings of relief.
Gabriel Roa notched the Indians lone hit in the loss, driving in Christopher Garia with a double to centerfield in the third inning.
The Indians donated over 2,000 boxes of macaroni and cheese to Second Harvest Food Bank as part of Cheesy Noise Maker Night presented by American Family Insurance, 103.9 BOB FM, & 790 KJRB.
