Evansville Otters News Release
Evansville, IN - Fans are invited to watch the 2006 Frontier League All-Star Game with Otter participants Mike Bille, Beau Blacken, Matt Edwards, and Jeff Goldbach at Smokey Bones restaurant starting at noon on Tuesday, July 18. Joining the four Otters who appeared in the game will be field manager Greg Jelks, who served as a coach in the contest, and members of the All-Star Planning Committee.
Smokey Bones is located at just east of Burkhardt Road off of the Lloyd Expressway, in front of the Wal-Mart shopping center.
"With the tape-delay broadcast being aired at noon on Tuesday, we felt that it would be a great opportunity to invite our fans to watch the game with the Evansville players who participated," commented Otters vice president/general manager. "We appreciate the staff at Smokey Bones for setting up a room for our use tomorrow."
The West Division, featuring Evansville, overcame an early four-run deficit to tie the game, forcing a tie-breaking home run derby to decide the contest for the third time in the past five seasons. Evansville's Beau Blacken hit the first two pitches that he saw in the derby out of Bosse Field to win the game for the West.
The Evansville Otters were voted a Platinum Winner in the Evansville Courier & Press Reader's Choice Awards and Best Sporting Event by the readers of Evansville Living magazine in 2005. The Otters open a six-game homestand against the Washington Wild Things and River City Rascals tonight, remaining at home through Saturday, July 22.
