TRAVERSE CITY, MI - In a game in that was delayed nearly two hours because of rain, Windy City starter Nick Renault struck out ten Traverse City Beach Bums and allowed one unearned run in 8 innings as the ThunderBolts won by a 3-1 score on Monday night for their fourth straight win on Monday night.

Renault (1-0) allowed six hits and walked four, but stranded eight Beach Bum base runners in the victory. Traverse City starter Robbie McClellan (3-3) was the loser after giving up all three T'Bolt runs on five hits while walking two and striking out seven. ThunderBolt closer Brian Beuning earned his Frontier League leading 14th save and his third in as many nights by striking out two in the ninth.

The Bolts scored two in the third when Anthony Seratelli hit a two out RBI triple to right center to score Jason Mann. Clemente Bonilla drove in Seratelli with an RBI single in the very next at bat. The Bolts added an insurance run in the ninth when Steve Ketter drew a bases loaded walk off of Traverse City reliever Shaun Parker to score pinch runner Scott Vetter. John Santor drew the walk that eventually came around to score off of McClellan, but was pinch ran for by Vetter. The Bolts managed only five hits, with Bonilla earning two. He finished 2-4 with two singles. Seratelli's triple, a single by Mann, and a single by Josh Buhagiar accounted for the Windy City hits.

Traverse City's only run came in the fifth on an error by ThunderBolt first baseman John McCarthy. Beach Bum SS Justin Holmes led off the inning with a single. Three batters later, 3B Nick Batkoski hit a ground ball to Seratelli, but McCarthy was unable to handle the throw, allowing Holmes to score. Traverse City left nine runners on base, with five in scoring position. Holmes led the way for Traverse City, scoring the lone run while going 3-4 at the plate with a walk.

Windy City has won four in a row, while Traverse City has dropped back-to-back contests. Game #2 of the three game set is tomorrow night at 7:05pm Eastern Time at Wuerfel Park in Traverse City. Windy City sends All-Star Mike Mlotkowski (2-3, 3.12 ERA) against Dave Lemieux (0-0, 4.73) for Traverse City.
