
New Rascals ownership group to take over in September

It is announced today that PS and J Professional Baseball Club LLC, has entered into an agreement to purchase the River City Rascals franchise of The Frontier League. President and CEO of PS ad J Professional Baseball Steve Malliet explained that O'Fallon and St. Charles County were high on their list when looking at potential cities and franchises to invest in. "We looked at several markets over the last couple of years and we liked what the city of O'Fallon and St. Charles County had to offer. We like the potential this market has to be one of the best in all of minor league sports. The City of O'Fallon has been terrific to work with and is committed to helping us create one of the top Minor League establishments in the country. The ballpark is fantastic, and will only get better with future improvements, while the fans have always been very supportive. We look forward to coming to The City of O'Fallon and making it our home."
The principal member of PS and J Professional Baseball is Steve Malliet. Steve has been a part of three successful new stadium start-up operations in the last 11 years including Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, Wisconsin in 1995, Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1999 and most recently Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Illinois in 2002. Steve was the executive of the year in the Midwest League in 1995 with the Wisconsin TimberRattlers an affiliate of the Seattle Mariners in the Midwest League. The TimberRattlers franchise then went on to win the Prestigious Bob Freitas Award witch recognized the TimberRattlers as one of the top franchises in all of Minor League Baseball in 1996. Other members of the ownership group include Timothy Hoeksema who is the current President and CEO of Midwest Airlines of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Fred Stratton who is the Chairman of the Board at Briggs and Stratton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
A formal press conference will be held at T.R. Hughes Ballpark within a couple weeks that will allow Steve to manage his day to day responsibilities with the Joliet Jackhammers.
PS and J Professional Baseball Club will plan to assume every day operation of the Rascals beginning on September 22nd of 2006.
