Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today are pleased to announce that the team's media partners, Reading Eagle, WEEU and Rock Hits Y102, have joined forces with the Reading Parking Authority and the Royals to invite everyone in the Greater Reading Region and beyond to attend the Royals' Pre-Season Game at the Sovereign Center against the Trenton Devils on Sunday, October 11 (5:05 pm) for free!

Fans can gain admission to the "Royals Pre-Season Challenge Presented by the Reading Eagle, WEEU, Y102 and The Reading Parking Authority" by simply presenting a coupon which will be published in the Reading Eagle beginning Sunday, October 4, and continuing through Sunday, October 11. Fans coming to the Pre-Season Game in Reading from the Trenton, New Jersey area can contact the Trenton Devils' office directly to obtain a coupon in advance of the game. Also, in the spirit of opening the Pre-Season Game to everyone, the Reading Parking Authority will reduce the event parking rate to just $2.00 for all lots in and around the Sovereign Center on the day of the game.

Please note that Season Ticket Holders who have already purchased a ticket to the Royals' Pre-Season Game will either receive a full refund of their ticket price or the Royals will automatically apply their ticket purchase price to any outstanding balance on their respective Season Ticket Account. Refunds can be obtained directly at the Royals' office (645 Penn Street, 3rd Floor, Reading; Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm; 610-898-7825) or at the Customer Service Booth inside the Sovereign Center on the day of the Pre-Season Game.

John Ernesto, Reading Eagle marketing director, stated: "Reading Eagle and WEEU are pleased to support the Royals for this great outreach to the community. Offering everyone a chance to see the Royals for free is a great way to kick off the hockey season. Hopefully, people who have never been to a hockey game will take this opportunity to come downtown and experience a Reading Royals game."

John Rizzuto, General Manager of Clear Channel Reading stated, "of course, our stations are the radio home of the Royals, and we're excited to get this season underway. By opening the pre-season game to everyone, we believe that our entire community can come out and meet the team and prepare for what is shaping up to be an exciting season."

The Executive Director of the Reading Parking Authority Larry Lee also expressed his excitement about participating in this pre-season game stating, "we're certainly pleased to be part of this community-based event. The Royals and their fans bring a vibrant energy and excitement to the downtown Reading area, and we're glad to be able to support this opportunity for everyone in the community to get everyone ready for the upcoming hockey season."

Royals' General Manager, Gordon Kaye, stated, "we want to thank the Reading Eagle, WEEU, Y102, and the Reading Parking Authority for opening our pre-season game to the entire greater Reading community. As we like to say, training camp isn't just for the players, and we want to help the people in our community get their 'game face' on, as well. We're hopeful that people who have wanted to visit the Sovereign Center and see the Royals but haven't yet had the chance will take this opportunity to come to our home and join us for what should be a fun evening of hockey and more."

In addition to the Pre-Season Game, the Royals will also host a post-game skate with the players presented by the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex immediately after the game. Also, there will also be members of the Royals' team in 'The Corner,' the pub/restaurant located in the northeast corner of the Sovereign Center to meet, greet, sign autographs and take photos after the game.

Please note that, beginning at 2:35 pm on Sunday, October 11, at the Sovereign Center, Royals' Season Ticket Holders will be able to pick up their season ticket booklets and STH gift from the Royals. In addition, STHs will be permitted entrance into the Sovereign Center one-half hour before all other patrons (3:35 pm); and we respectfully recommend that, since the Pre-Season Game is a general admission event, Season Ticket Holders arrive early in order to ensure the best available seats, as the building will be opened to the general public at 4:05 pm.

The Royals open the 2009-10 ECHL season on Thursday, October 15, 2009 (7:05 pm) when the Kalamazoo Wings make their first visit ever to the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. Season tickets for the Royals' 2009-10 season are currently available. To become a part of Royals hockey, call 610-898-PUCK or log onto www.royalshockey.com.
