Checkers Release Promotional Calendar

CHARLOTTE, NC-The Charlotte Checkers have released their promotional calendar for the 2009-10 season. This season will once again be filled with theme nights and promotions that highlight the entertainment value of Checkers games.
Highlights for 2009-10 include "90s Night", "As Seen On TV Night", "Pooch Party", "AutoTrader.com's Race Night", "Pink in the Rink" and the first-ever midnight game in Charlotte.
Opening night is set for Nov. 1 and the first 5,000 fans will receive magnet schedules courtesy of Presbyterian Hospital. The game will be followed by the first of five "Skate With The Checkers" presented by Extreme Ice Center. The other skates will take place on game days on Dec. 20, Jan. 17, Feb. 7 and Mar. 28.
Saturday, Nov. 21 will be the first of six "Do Blue" nights presented by Amtrak. Fans are encouraged to wear blue and can register for a chance to win four tickets to a Carolina Hurricanes game and four travel vouchers, courtesy of Amtrak.
This year's "Teddy Bear Toss" will take place on Dec. 26. Fans are encouraged to bring a new and wrapped teddy bear to the game to throw on the ice after the Checkers' first goal. The teddy bears will be collected and delivered by Checkers players to the Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital.
"Salute to Heroes", presented by Time Warner Cable and The Pita Pit, will take place on Saturday, Mar. 27 and will involve a charitable hockey game following the Checkers game featuring local police, sheriff, fire and medic representatives.
All Sunday games will feature "Family Four Packs" presented by Coca-Cola, where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four Cokes for only $55. Friday games will have a similar promotion where fans can purchase one ticket, one hot dog and one Coke for only $15. Both promotions will include coupons for a free two-liter bottle of Coke.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday games throughout the season will be dubbed "Wet Your Whistle Weekday" and will feature 12oz. Bud Lights for only $3.
New for 2009-10 will be "All-You-Can-Eat Seats" on Saturday games. For $25, fans will receive a game ticket in section 107 and select all-you-can-eat concession food and soda items.

The Checkers' schedule is now available and they are getting ready for their 17th season of play as a member of the ECHL and 16th as an affiliate of the New York Rangers. In the team's 16-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 12 times including five consecutive playoff appearances to date. Season tickets are on sale now.
