Falcons Release Defenseman Reed from PTO

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons, AHL affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced on Monday that they have released defenseman Chris Reed from his professional try-out (PTO) and have returned him to the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones.

Reed was signed by the Falcons on Sunday and made his AHL debut in Springfield's 3-2 shootout victory over the Manchester Monarchs.

The 25-year-old has skated his first two pro seasons with Cincinnati, posting a goal and four assists for five points in 23 games this year while registering a goal and five assists for six points in 33 contests in his rookie campaign of 2011-2012.

Prior to turning pro, Reed played four seasons at Ohio State University (NCAA, D-I), accumulating 38 points (4g-34a) in 150 games from 2007 to 2011. Reed is a native of Solon, Ohio.

The Falcons, who lead the Northeast Division by eight points, venture to Portland and Hershey this week before returning home on Thursday, Dec. 27 to host the Albany Devils at the MassMutual Center.

Single-game tickets to see the Falcons in 2012-2013 can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. through game time on Saturday home dates, and starting four hours prior to Sunday home contests.
