
Falcons Record-Long Point Streak Halted in Loss to Bruins

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons (21-5-1-3) fell to the Providence Bruins by the final score of 5-4 Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center, halting the team's franchise-best point streak at nine games. The Falcons were last defeated in regulation Wednesday, December 4 at the Albany Devils.
Frederic St. Denis scored two goals - at 3:03 of the second period and 7:48 of the third period - and finished the game with a +1 rating. Both of the assistant captain's tallies tied the score, his first at 2-2 and second at 4-4. St. Denis now has three points (two goals, one assists) in the last two games.
Jonathan Marchessault extended his point streak to four games, scoring a third-period goal from inside the right-wing circle. Over the four-game span, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound forward has recorded six points (four goals, two assists). Marchessault leads the team with 25 points, 11 goals, 14 assists, six power-play goals and four game-winning goals this season.
Jake Hansen scored for the second consecutive night, finding the back of the net at 1:19 of the second period to get the Falcons on the board and cut the deficit to 2-1.
Providence got a two-goal effort from forward Carter Camper, while Anthony Camara, Justin Florek and Bobby Robins each scored as well. Camara notched the game-winning goal at 14:37 of the third period, deflecting a Ben Youds point shot past Springfield goaltender Jeremy Smith.
Smith made 17 saves on 22 shots, falling to 14-4-2 this season. Niklas Svedberg stopped 24 of 28 shots in net for the Bruins, improving to 12-5-3.
Springfield held scoreless on four power-play opportunities, while Providence went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
The Falcons are back in action at the MassMutual Center Tuesday, December 31 to host the St. John's IceCaps at 3:00 p.m. To celebrate New Year's Eve, the team is offering $10 tickets.
