
Devils Almost Perfect In 3-In-3

BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Bridgeport Sound Tigers goaltender Kenny Reiter made the final save in a marathon nine-round shootout, helping his team to a 3-2 victory against the Albany Devils Sunday at Webster Bank Arena. Bridgeport erased a two-goal deficit in the third period, spoiling the Devils attempt for a perfect three-in-three weekend.
The Devils, who earned a 2-0 win against Adirondack Friday and a 4-1 victory against Portland Saturday, earned five-out-of-a-possible six points during the three-game set. Albany, which is 19-8-2-2 overall, went 7-1-1-1 in December.
During the shootout, both teams exchanged goals in the first, seventh and eighth rounds. Mike Sislo scored early and Harri Pesonen and Reece Scarlett both kept the Devils alive. In the end, Bridgeport's Philip-Michael Devos netted the deciding tally.
Scott Wedgewood made five saves during the shootout and 32 during regulation and overtime. He made 15 saves in the first, six in the second, 12 in the third and one in OT.
Offensively, Tim Sestito and Joe Whitney both found the back of the net. Sestito opened the scoring at 3:23 from Raman Hrabrenka and Harry Young. Whitney followed at 10:15 with a power-play goal from Scarleet and Sislo.
Bridgeport made the score 2-1 when Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored 56 seconds into the third period. Joe Diamond tied the game at 13:45.
Albany lost its first game this season when leading after two periods. They entered the game with a 16-0-0-0 record.
The Devils the 2014 calendar year with a 7 pm contest against the Springfield Falcons Friday at Times Union Center.
