Coyotes Assign Brule and Szwarz to Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forwards Gilbert Brule and Jordan Szwarz to the Portland Pirates, the club's American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 26-year-old Brule has appeared in three games with the Coyotes this season. He has also recorded 7-5-12 with a plus-three rating in 11 games with the Pirates. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound native of Edmonton, AB has registered 43-52-95 and 156 penalty minutes (PIM) in 299 career NHL games. Brule was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.

The 22-year-old Szwarz has played in 20 games with the Coyotes this season, totaling 2-0-2 and 19 PIM. He also recorded 3-1-4 and four PIM in six games with Portland. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Burlington, ON made his NHL debut vs. Los Angeles on Oct. 29. Szwarz was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round (97th overall) in the 2009 Entry Draft.
