Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - Players from the Springfield Falcons have organized a food drive, which will take place at the club's home game on Sunday, Mar. 3 at the MassMutual Center to benefit The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
Falcons players, who will personally be contributing to the drive, are encouraging fans in attendance on Mar. 3 to bring a non-perishable food item for donation. A collection bin will be set up in the concourse behind Section 31 and then taken to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts following the conclusion of play.
Fans are invited to stick around after that day's game against the Worcester Sharks and participate in a postgame skate with Falcons players on the MassMutual Center ice. The first 1,000 fans 12 and under in attendance that day will receive a specialty Falcons jersey, courtesy of Dunkin Donuts.
The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been serving the area since 1982 and is the largest hunger-relief organization in the region. In 2012, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts collected and distributed more than 6.5 million pounds of food to those in need.
