Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Wednesday that center Nick Drazenovic has been assigned to the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Additionally, Springfield has recalled center Nathan Moon from its ECHL developmental club, the Evansville IceMen.
Drazenovic, who was recalled by Columbus for the first time this season last Wednesday, played in two games with the Blue Jackets during his recent NHL stint and was scoreless with a -1 rating. The sixth-year pro from Prince George, British Columbia is second on the Falcons with 45 points (16g-29a), placing him into a tie for fifth place in the AHL in scoring. Drazenovic, 26, is on a five-game point streak dating back to Jan. 26 (2g-6a), his third of that length in 2012-2013, and is +8. He notched 41 points (13g-28a) and was +1 in 41 games with the Falcons in 2011-2012, his first season with the club.
Drazenovic skated with the Peoria Rivermen, St. Louis' primary developmental affiliate, during the first-four seasons of his career from 2007 to 2011. In 365 AHL games between Springfield and Peoria, Drazenovic has 99 goals and 147 assists for 246 points. He has not posted a point in five-career NHL contests between Columbus and St. Louis. Drazenovic was selected by the Blues in the sixth round (171st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Moon is third on the IceMen with 33 points (14g-19a) and is -12 with 96 penalty minutes through 43 outings. The second-year pro, who was a participant in the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game, was acquired by Evansville from Cincinnati after starting the season with the Cyclones following his participation in Springfield's training camp. Moon signed a one-year AHL contract with the Falcons in the summer of 2012.
As a rookie in 2011-2012, Moon accumulated 32 points (12g-20a) in 72 games with the Worcester Sharks while also compiling 149 penalty minutes and a -4 mark. He began his pro career in the 2011 CHL Playoffs, winning a league championship with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Moon, a 23-year-old from Belleville, Ontario, was chosen by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
