The Northeast Division-leading Springfield Falcons take on one of the hottest teams in the AHL, meeting the Atlantic Division-leading Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center, with the opening face-off scheduled 7:00 p.m. The Falcons trail only the Syracuse Crunch by two points for first place in the Eastern Conference and earned a dramatic 3-2 shootout win in Manchester on Sunday to close out the weekend. Portland has won five-straight games and defeated Springfield in the last meeting in overtime on Nov. 23, 6-5, overcoming a 4-1 deficit to pull off the victory. The Falcons beat the Pirates at the MassMutual Center on Oct. 28, 3-2.
Coverage of tonight's game starts at 6:58 p.m. on WHYN 560 AM, WHYN.com, the iHeartRadio App, or AHLLive.com.
After venturing to Hershey on Saturday, the Falcons return home on Thursday, Dec. 27 to host the Albany Devils at the MassMutual Center at 7:00 p.m.

MAN ON FIRE
Cam Atkinson tied David Savard for the longest point streak by a Falcon this season on Sunday with his second-period goal. Atkinson has points in eight-straight games (7g-6a), the longest active such streak in the league. The second-year pro is third in the league with a team-leading 29 points and 15 goals, one year after pacing the Falcons as a rookie with 29 tallies. His five game-winning goals are tied for the most in the AHL.
TOP ROAD RECORD
Springfield takes the league's best road record of 9-2-1-0 (.792) into tonight's game. The Falcons underwent just their second road regulation defeat of the season on Friday in Providence before rebounding Sunday with a win in Manchester.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
Alexandre Bolduc leads Portland with 26 points (13g-13a), putting him into a tie for eighth in the league in scoring. Andy Miele registered four assists against Springfield in the Nov. 23 Pirates victory. The four assists and points collected by Miele that night are the most by an opposing player versus the Falcons in 2012-2013. Oliver Ekman-Larsson is tied with David Savard for sixth in the league among defensemen with 19 points.
