Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons surrendered four goals in the second period and lost by a 6-1 score on Sunday night to the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
The teams began the first period much like the night before with another low scoring opening frame. Providence's Seth Griffith scored the period's lone goal with a wrist shot past the glove of Nicklas Treutle. His sixth of the season was assisted by Chris Casto and scored at 8:22. Each team had one power play in the period but could not convert. Providence outshot the Falcons 14-6 in the period.

The second of the night was assisted by Ben Youds and Griffith at 9:29. Michael Bunting responded 1:38 later with his first AHL goal on a wrist shot over Malcolm Subban's glove. The goal was assisted by Tyler Gaudet and Justin Hache to bring the game to a 3-1 Bruins lead. The scoring tear continued with another Bruins' goal from Griffith. Much like his first of the night, a wrist shot gave the Bruins a 4-1 lead. His seventh of the year was assisted by Colby Cave and Casto 3:20 after the Falcons' goal. The scoring in the period finished off with a Bruins' shorthanded goal from Austin Czarnik. His third of the season was scored with 3:58 left after a misplayed puck in the Falcons zone.
Four minutes into the third, Brandon DeFazio scored a power play with assists from Czarnik and Colton Hargrove. DeFazio's fifth of the season ended the scoring to give the Bruins their second straight win against the Falcons. Truetle made 31 stops to fall to 4-4-0. Subban's 28 saves improved his record to 4-5-3. The Falcons went 0-4 on the power play while the Bruins scored three times on their four power plays.
