Providence Bruins News Release
PROVIDENCE, R. I. - Seth Griffith came away with 4 points (two goals and two assists) in tonight's 6-1 win over the Springfield Falcons
Griffith got things going 8:22 into the first period when he streaked down the right wing on a two-on-one with Anton Blidh. Griffith released from the face-off dot and beat Treutle over his right shoulder. The goal was nearly identical to his goal against Springfield last night.
Providence scoring came alive in the second period, withe 3 P-Bruins combining for 4 goals. Talbot got things going 7:55 into the second with his first power play goal of the night. Griffith passed to Khokhlachev who found Talbot in the slot, whose quick release put the P-Bruins up 2-0.
Talbot struck again 1:34 later on a consecutive power play goal. Kohklachev zipped the puck to Ben Youds who released a snapshot from the point. Talbot managed to collect the rebound and shove the puck behind Treutle to give Providence the three goal lead.
Springfield got a chance to retaliate when Bunting found a way to get the puck past Subban for his first goal of the season. Mermis was credited with the assist.
Griffith tallied his second of the night with helpers from Colby Cave and Chris Casto. This was Griffith's 7th goal of the season.
Not wanting the power play unit to have all of the fun, Austin Czarnik scored shot handed at 16:02 into the second. Czarnik's aggressive forecheck paid off when he controlled and maneuvered the puck behind Treutle and in the net.
The Providence power play had one more in them in the third. Brandon DeFazio deflected a Austin Czarnik wrister to give the P-Bruins the 6-1 lead.
Providence comes away from the weekend with 6 out of a possible 6 points - a season best for the P-Bruins.
