Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced two transactions on Sunday involving their NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets and one with their ECHL developmental club, the Evansville IceMen.
Columbus has recalled left wing Sean Collins from Springfield and has assigned defenseman Cody Goloubef to the Falcons. Additionally, Springfield has recalled right wing Trent Vogelhuber from Evansville.
Collins, a rookie from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 46 games with Springfield this season while checking in at +6. He made his professional debut with the Falcons at the end of the 2011-2012 campaign, posting a goal and four assists for five points and a +3 mark after finishing his four-year career at Cornell University (NCAA, D-I). This marks the first recall to Columbus for the 24-year-old, who was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Goloubef, a third-year pro, was recalled by Columbus on Feb. 4 and scored his first NHL goal in a 6-2 Blue Jackets win over San Jose on Feb. 11. He collected goals in each of Springfield's victories over Syracuse on Feb. 1 and Connecticut on Feb. 2 and has 10 points (4g-6a) in 21 games with a +9 rating with the Falcons in 2012-2013. Goloubef, a native of Oakville, Ontario, has accumulated 39 points (10g-29a) in 119 AHL contests and has a goal in six NHL games during his career. The 23-year-old was selected by Columbus in the second round (37th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Vogelhuber, a first-year skater, has 16 points (6g-10a) and a +3 mark in 34 games with Evansville this season. He participated in Springfield's training camp this year after making his pro debut with the Falcons at the end of the 2011-2012 campaign. Vogelhuber, a 24-year-old from Dublin, Ohio, played collegiately from 2008 to 2012 at Miami University (NCAA, D-I).
