Lexington, KY - Seven of the Lexington Legends' ten hits went for extra bases as the Legends took the opener of a four-game series with the Augusta GreenJackets by a 6-2 score on Monday night in Lexington.

The tone was perhaps set early when the GreenJackets loaded the bases with no one out and came away empty-handed in the inning. After Lexington starter Luis Ordosgoitti allowed three straight hits to start the inning, he recorded back-to-back strikeouts and got an infield dribbler to get out of the threat. In the second, Lexington snagged the first lead on Justin Gominsky's RBI single to make it a 1-0 game.

Augusta struck back in the fourth, taking a 2-1 lead on a two-run, opposite-field homer from Ben Thomas. The Legends wasted little time in reclaiming the lead though. Mike Kvasnicka - the reigning South Atlantic League player of the week - belted a two-run homer of his own over the left-field bleachers to give Lexington a 3-2 lead. The home run was the fifth for Kvasnicka in his last seven games.

Lexington added to their lead on three separate occasions. In the fifth, they got an RBI double from Nolan Fontana. The lead stretched to three runs in the seventh inning on Luis Alvarez's solo homer. In the eighth, back-to-back doubles from Brandon Meredith and Kvasnicka made it a 6-2 game. The last seven Lexington hits went for extra bases.

Edwin Escobar (4-6) battled through six innings, but didn't get the run support to take him off the hook for the loss. He allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six. Ordosgoitti (3-3) earned the win for the Legends, scattering a pair of runs on ten hits while striking out seven - one shy of a season-high. Murilo Gouvea struck out four and allowed one hit in two scoreless innings to get his third save of the season.

The GreenJackets will try to snap their three-game losing skid on Tuesday with Clayton Blackburn (6-3, 2.82) taking the mound against Lexington's Jonas Dufek (5-2, 5.48). First pitch from Lexington comes at 7:05 p.m. with radio pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1340 AM and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.

The GreenJackets return home on Friday July 27th to open a three-game series with the Hickory Crawdads at 7:05 p.m. Single-game tickets for any GreenJackets home game are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
