Express Win in OT against Mill Rats, 116-104

(WINDSOR, ON)- The Windsor Express (16-13) returned to The WFCU Centre to host the Saint John Mill Rats (17-11) for the only time this regular season. The Express erased a 22 point deficit to pull out a win in overtime, 116-104.
The Express and Mill Rats alternated baskets in the beginning of the game. The Express finished the first quarter with a 29-26 advantage.
Maurice Bolden opened up the second quarter with a two handed slam to keep Windsor in the lead, 31-28. It was a back and forth game until Saint John went on a 10-0 run midway through the second to take the lead, 40-28. Saint John went into halftime leading by 10, 49-39.
The third quarter didn't see a bucket until Doug Herring Jr hit a pair of free throws. The Express continued to struggle, allowing the Mill Rats to take a 22 point lead, 69-47 with less than five minutes to go. Shaquille Keith lobs it over to Maurice Bolden for an alley oop to close the quarter, with the Mill Rats leading 84-69.
Kirk Williams Jr knocks down back to back buckets to start off the final quarter. Brandon Robinson brings the score within 9, 92-83, after hitting a pair of free throws with 6:44 left in the game. Tony Bennett ties the score at 98 with 1:10 left in the game. The score would tie two more times in the last forty seconds of the game, before going into overtime.
Anthony Anderson gets one for two at the line to start off overtime, giving the Mill Rats their only lead, 102-101. From there, Shaquille Keith finishes at the net with a lay-in and the Express take back the lead, 103-102. Brandon Robinson hit a big three with over a minute remaining, keeping the Express lead alive, 110-104. The Express finish overtime with a win, 116-104.
Brandon Robinson finished with a game high 25 points. Tony Bennett added 23 points of his own. Shaquille Keith came off the bench and put up 18 points.
Doug Herring Jr put up 19 points for the Mill Rats. Jean Volcy had 18 points of his own.
The Windsor Express will be back at The WFCU Centre on Thursday, March 24th to host the Niagara River Lions, and Saturday, March 26th to host the London Lightning. Both games are scheduled for a 7:30pm game start.
