Orangeville A's News Release
Even with the help provided by the A's Justin Moss (29 points, 11 rebounds) and Richard Amardi (28 points, 7/10 from 3PT), Orangeville couldn't find a way to win the game at the buzzer.
The Orangeville A's (8-19) were faced with their 3rd game of the weekend, travelling to the Meridian Centre to take on the Niagara River Lions (10-18). The A's welcomed back the addition of Bilal Benn and Erik Copes, who were both activated off of the injured reserve list.
A's forward Richard Amardi was especially effective in the 1st, scoring 12 points which included 3/6 from 3PT range. The 1st quarter finished will a small Niagara run that gave them a 1st quarter advantage of 30-27.
The 2nd quarter would continue to be closely contended between both squads, seeing Orangeville grab the lead at the 5:27 mark of the quarter, 47-46. Despite the A's shooting efficiently from 3PT range at 53% (8/15), they were unable to prevent the River Lions from scoring 36 points in the paint by half. Niagara would conclude the 2nd quarter with their largest lead of the game so far, 63-55.
A's forward Justin Moss had an effective quarter for Orangeville, scoring 10 points and collecting 4 boards, solely in the 3rd. Moss would finish the game with a line of 29 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Orangeville was able to take a lead of 9 points at the 3:46 mark of the 3rd, 84-75.
The Orangeville A's weren't able to hold off the River Lions in the 4th quarter of play, who lifted themselves to 102-100 lead with 6:02 to play. As the game came down to the wire, Justin Moss was sent to the line down 1 point, with 0.4 seconds remaining on the clock. Unfortunately for the A's they were unable to capitalize and lost a hard fought game, 121-120.
