Windsor Express News Release
(WINDSOR, ON) Thursday, January 8th will be a special night at the WFCU Centre, as the Windsor Express honour the Windsor Ford V-8's basketball team.
The V-8's earned a silver medal in the 1936 Summer Olympics, held in Berlin, Germany, and are still the only team from Canada to medal in Olympic basketball.
Express players will wear a special tribute jersey that night, replicas of the jerseys worn by the V-8's in the Olympic Games, which will be available through auction during the game.
Memorabilia from the 1936 Olympics will be on hand at the arena and family members of players from the Ford V-8's team will be in attendance and part of a special ceremony before the game.
The game also serves as a fundraiser for the Windsor-Essex County Sports Hall of Fame as $15 tickets will be available for purchase, with $5 going back to the Hall of Fame.
$15 tickets can be purchased online at www.wfcu-centre.com/password, using the promo code: FORDV8.
Come out and celebrate an important part of Windsor's history, as the Express host the Brampton A's at 7:00pm.
