ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (38-45) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (46-36) on Monday night at Dell Diamond.

Express starter RHP Adrian Sampson (4-3, 5.14) was spectacular in his 7.0 innings on the hill as he constricted Colorado Springs to just one run on six hits en route to earning the win. Sky Sox reliver LHP Nick Ramirez (1-1, 3.86) took the loss after he coughed up three runs in the fifth and sixth frames.

Colorado Springs pushed across their only run off Sampson in the top of the third, getting out to an early 1-0 advantage. 1B Andres Blanco and 3B Dylan Moore led off the frame with back-to-back singles to put runners on first and second. Blanco advanced to third on a flyout and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by CF Brett Phillips.

Round Rock's bats wouldn't stay quiet for long, plating a run off Woodruff in the bottom of the fourth to reset the score at 1-1. RF Hunter Cole got things started when he shot a single between short and third. The next batter, C Juan Centeno, knocked an RBI double into the gap in right-center as Cole raced all the way home from first.

Just one inning later, E-Train LF Willie Calhoun put Round Rock in the lead 2-1 with a run-scoring double of his own. The first batter of the inning, CF Drew Robinson, singled and stole second base to put himself in scoring position. With two outs, Calhoun smashed his second hit on the evening into the right-center gap, allowing Robinson to jog home comfortably.

After Sampson breezed through his seventh frame on the mound, the Round Rock offense would gift their starting pitcher a couple of insurance runs in the bottom side. SS Nick Noonan and Cole teamed up on a pair of singles to kickstart the scoring threat with 1B Hanser Alberto driving Noonan home on a sacrifice fly. Robinson proceeded to bring Cole in on his third single of the contest to extend the gap 4-1.

The Sky Sox would threaten to tie things up after they scored two runs in the ninth, but Round Rock RHP R.J. Alvarez was able to stop the bleeding to secure a PCL-leading 16th save and the 4-3 win.

The five-game set between the E-Train and Colorado Springs will come to an end on Tuesday night at Dell Diamond. Round Rock LHP David Hurlbut (2-5, 4.70) is in line to face Sky Sox RHP Adrian Houser (1-0, 2.70). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
