Sky Sox Infielder Nate Orf Gets the Call to the Brewers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sky Sox infielder Nate Orf has received his first Major League call up.

On Monday, July 2, the Milwaukee Brewers announced that they selected the contract of the 28-year-old. He was recalled in place for infielder Nick Franklin who was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Orf, a native of Wentzville, MO, was originally signed by Milwaukee as a non-drafted free agent on June 14, 2013 out of Baylor University.

He is currently in his fifth full season with Milwaukee and was recently selected as a Triple-A All-Star reserve infielder, marking his first career selection as a mid-season All-Star.

The two-time MiLB.com organization All-Star is currently leading the Sky Sox in hits (83), runs (51), doubles (18), walks (36), games played (74), total bases (125), and hit-by-pitch (15) while tied for first in RBI (39). Overall, he is batting .307 with a .412 on-base percentage and is second in the league in stolen bases (20). Defensively, Orf has appeared in 39 games at second base, seven at third base, 22 at shortstop, and eight in the outfield while only recording four errors total.

The Sky Sox continue into game four of the five-game series in Round Rock today before returning home to Security Service Field on July 4 for a five-game series against the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins).
