From the Notes

60 and Counting: Nick Martini extended his on-base streak to 60 games with a single in the second inning yesterday afternoon. He's hitting .338 (75-for-222) with 38 runs, 35 RBI, 12 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs and 40 walks during the streak that is the longest in professional baseball. The 60-game streak is the longest by a Nashville Sounds player in the Pacific Coast League era. Since MLBAM began tracking on-base streaks in 2009, Martini's 60-game streak is the 2nd-longest in professional baseball. The longest on-base streak in professional baseball since 2009 belongs to Andrew Velazquez of Single-A South Bend when he reached in 74 straight games in 2014.

Neuse Making Noise: Third baseman Sheldon Neuse has started to heat up at the plate recently. In his last 15 games, he's batting .338 (22-for-65) with 7 RBI, 7 runs, 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run, and had a stretch of five consecutive multi-hit games. He began the day on June 14 with a .193 average and has boosted it to .231. He is currently on a season-long nine-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games.

Double Dip: Tonight's doubleheader is the second in less than a week for the Sounds. On June 27, Nashville swept a twin bill from the Oklahoma City Dodgers in Bricktown with a 5-4 win in game one, and a 1-0 win in game two. Of PCL teams that have played a doubleheader in 2018, the Sounds are the only squad to not lose a game. Following the All-Star break, the Sounds will play another doubleheader on July 13 in Iowa. Their fourth doubleheader of the season is currently scheduled for July 21 at home against the Dodgers.

Two Southpaws Again: Nashville faces two left-handed pitchers in tonight's doubleheader in Jake Kalish and Eric Stout. In 22 games against left-handed starters in 2018, the Sounds are an even .500 at 11-11. At .268 (180-for-671), the Sounds are better against lefties compared to righties at .252 (502-for-1,994). Jake Smolinski hits left-handers at a .333 (10-for-30) and Sheldon Neuse hits them at a .313 (21-for-67) mark.
