Explosive First Half Leads Flash to Victory

Tulsa, Okla. Dec. 30, 2008- Boston Celtics assignee Bill Walker scored 27 points, and the Utah Flash capitalized on a 67.6 percent (25-of-37) first half shooting percentage to snap a two game losing streak with a 98-82 NBA Development League victory over the host Tulsa 66ers Tuesday night at Spiritbank Event Center.

Walker, who picked up 11 of his 27points in the first quarter, connected on a jumper to cap a Flash 11-0 run to end the first period with the Flash leading 31-16.

"One of our focuses was having some mental and physical energy to start game." Flash head coach Brad Jones said. "Our guys were really tuned in to our game plan, and we got to play from ahead the whole game."

Utah (6-7) finishes its four-game road swing with a 2-2 showing, and will return home for a matchup with the Austin Torros Friday. Tulsa (3-11) will travel to Colorado on Friday for a showdown with the 14ers.

The Flash, who entered the night ranked eighth in the league in field goal percentage, improved upon their 45.4-percent season shooting percentage with a strong 54.7 shooting percentage (35-of-64) Tuesday night.

"When you come out and run the offense, stay focused, share the basketball, and take care of the basketball, good things will happen." Jones added.

Utah followed a 31-point first quarter with a 30-point second quarter to take a commanding 61-36 lead into the halftime break, and the 66ers were unable to cut the Flash lead to less than the final 16 point deficit.

J.R. Giddens, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, chipped in 14 points for the Flash; while Bennet Davis recorded a D-League career high 10 points in a reserve role. Dontell Jefferson also added 10 points in the Flash win.

Ryan Humphrey led all Tulsa scorers with 18 points, while Ronald Dupree contributed 10 points. Keith Clark and Moses Ehambre scored 14 and 12 points respectively off the Tulsa bench.
