Explorers Split Victories With Winnipeg

Sioux City-----The Explorers defeated Winnipeg 9-4 in the completion of the suspended game from Wednesday, but Winnipeg blanked the Explorers 1-0 in the second game Thursday at Lewis and Clark Park.

In the suspended game, the Explorers had 13 hits, including a four-hit game by second baseman Anthony Kaskadden, three hits by Eliezer Mesa and a two-run home run by Peter Barrows, his 11th of the season.

In the nightcap, both Preston Olson of the Explorers and Chris Salamida pitched complete games as the Goldeyes defeated the X's 1-0. The Explorers only had three hits in the loss as Winnipeg wins the series three games to one.

The Explorers will continue the home stand Friday with a single game at Lewis and Clark Park against St. Paul.
