Fargo-Moorhead 3, Rockland 2

The RedHawks rebounded from a small early deficit to beat the Rockland Boulders in a low-scoring affair Wednesday night. Fargo-Moorhead went down 2-0 in the first inning, but recovered for a 3-2 victory.

Nic Jackson was the first to strike for Fargo-Moorhead. His single in the sixth scored Zach Penprase, but Jackson and Penprase were not finished. Two innings later, it was Jackson at the plate again with a chance to tie the game. The RedHawks had runners on first and second with two outs and Jackson hit a single that should have only loaded the bases, but an error allowed Penprase to come home with the tying run. The next batter was C.J. Retherford and he completed the comeback with a single that drove home Ronnie Bourquin to give the RedHawks the one-run lead.

Though Alex Caldera did not factor in the decision, his pitching gave the RedHawks a chance to win. The right-hander only faltered in the first inning when he loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a hit batsman before giving up a two-run single. But, Caldera was lights out thereafter. Those first-inning runs were the only ones he surrendered in seven innings. The Boulders hitters managed just three hits off of Caldera all night. After Fargo-Moorhead took a late lead, Derrick Miramontes was credited with the win and Joe Harris picked up the save.

Wichita 2, Gary SouthShore 1 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

In their return home from a lengthy road trip, the Wichita Wingnuts treated their fans to a walk-off win in game one of a doubleheader against Gary SouthShore. Abel Nieves played the role of hero when his single drove home Brent Clevlen with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give Wichita a 2-1 win.

Wichita made quick work of the RailCats in the game-winning inning. In fact, it took the Wingnuts just two hits to vanquish Gary SouthShore. Clevlen hit a one-out double and Nieves' single came just two pitches later. The whole inning lasted just 10 pitches.

The Wingnuts' first run came in the third inning when C.J. Ziegler led off the frame with a game-tying solo homer. That long ball was a response to Christian Vitters' first-inning single that gave the RailCats their short-lived lead.

Kansas City 8, Lincoln 1

Dustin Loggins led the way for Kansas City on the hill in an 8-1 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs. The right-hander struck out seven Saltdogs over six innings and his only blemish was a solitary unearned run.

The bulk of Loggins' run support came in the bottom of the third inning. Kansas City pounced on Lincoln's mistakes to the tune of five runs on just one hit. The T-Bones' break-out inning included three walks, an error, a wild pitch and a two-run home run off the bat of Petey Paramore.

The first baseman hit the only home run of the game, but he was one of five T-Bones to register multiple hits. Paramore and Jairo Perez were the only two to come away from the ballgame with two RBI.

Gary SouthShore 10, Wichita 5 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

The RailCats avenged their loss in game one with a victory over the Wingnuts in game two of Wednesday's doubleheader. Gary SouthShore rode behind Reid Fronk's hot bat for a 10-5 win.

Fronk delivered a pair of extra-base hits, along with two RBI and two runs scored. In the second, Fronk put the RailCats on the board with a run-scoring triple, then came home on a single by Brian Kolb. The next inning, Fronk walked with the bases loaded. He later walked again and doubled.

Stephen Hiscock came away with the win on the hill. The RailCats' starter pitched six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Sioux Falls 13, St. Paul 10 (In Progress - Top of the 12th)

The Sioux Falls Canaries and St. Paul Saints are still in progress, with the Canaries leading the Saints, 13-10, in the top of the 12th.

Laredo 2, El Paso 0 (Suspended - Top of the 4th)

The Laredo Lemurs and El Paso Diablos have been suspended due to rain in the top of the fourth inning with the Lemurs on top, 2-0. The game will resume on Thursday, August 15 at 5:30 p.m.

Amarillo 5, Grand Prairie 4 (Suspended - Bottom of the 4th)

The Amarillo Sox and Grand Prairie AirHogs have been suspended due to rain in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Sox leading, 5-4. The game will resume on Thursday, August 15 at 5:05 p.m.

Sioux City 5, Winnipeg 4 (Suspended - Top of the 5th)

The Sioux City Explorers and Winnipeg Goldeyes have been suspended due to inclement weather in the Siouxland area with the Explorers leading Winnipeg, 5-4, after four innings. The game will resume on Thursday, August 15 at 5:05 p.m.
