Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux City-----The Sioux City Explorers pounded out 14 hits with ten of those being in the first three innings in a 6-1 win over Gary SouthShore at Lewis and Clark Park Friday.

All nine batters in the Explorers lineup had at least one hit with Peter Barrows leading the way with three hits, including two doubles.

With the win, the Explorers finished the four-game series with Gary SouthShore winning three of the four games against the second place RailCats.

Lefty Richard Salazar pitched eight inning scattering five hits, allowed one run while striking out six and did not walk a batter in recording his fourth win of the season in five decisions.

The Explorers put the game away early scoring two runs in the first inning and then adding four more runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead. Gary SouthShore scored their only run in the fifth inning.

Having won three of four from Gary, the Explorers will start an eight-game road trip Saturday at Northern Division leading Fargo-Moorhead. The Explorers will face the RedHawks four times before continuing the road trip to Sioux Falls for four.

The Explorers will return home on July 14th to begin a three-game series with Wichita at Lewis and Clark Park.
