Explorers Falls as Wingnuts Rally

Wichita, KS.....Wichita scored three runs in the seventh inning as the Wingnuts defeated the Sioux City Explorers 4-3 Thursday.

The three-run rally in the seventh inning overcame a 3-1 lead for the Explorers. Sioux City took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run double by Justin Nelson. Wichita scored a run in the first inning on a two-out running scoring single by Kelly Hunt. The Explorers added a run in the fourth on a RBI single by Brent Dean.

The three runs Wichita scored in the seventh inning came on six hits with Nick Blasi's run scoring double came off losing hurler Ty Marotz.

With the loss, the Explorers finished the six-game road trip at 1-5 and now 1-9 against Wichita this season.

The Explorers will open a three-game series Friday at Lewis and Clark Park against St. Paul. Game time will be 7:05 with fireworks after the game.
