Pensacola 7, Sioux Falls 3

Kyle Middleton struck out seven batters and allowed just four hits in six innings of work to lead Pensacola to a 7-3 victory over Sioux Falls. After the Pelicans took a quick 4-0 lead on Canaries starter Travis Kane, Sioux Falls closed the gap to 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning. But Pelicans C Justin Humphries smacked a three run homer in the bottom of the eighth to restore the four run cushion which Pensacola did not relinquish. DH Chase Burch helped the Pelicans offense with a 2-for-4 night at the plate and three RBI.

Shreveport-Bossier 4, Ft. Worth 3

Shreveport-Bossier got solid pitching and a 3-for-5 performance from CF Jonathan Reynoso to down Ft. Worth 4-3. The Captains scored three times on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead before Ft. Worth tied the game 3-3 in the sixth. Shreveport-Bossier answered with a run in the home half of the eighth before Reynoso preserved the victory by cutting down a runner at home plate in the top of the ninth. Jakob Cunningham got the win for the Captains as he worked 1 1/3 innings in relief. Ft. Worth starter Ryan Riddle struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings but didn't factor in the decision.

Lincoln 5, St. Paul 3

Despite outhitting the opposition 8-5 in front of a packed house in St. Paul, the home team fell to the visitors from Lincoln by a 5-3 final. Saltdogs 2B Shea McFeely hit his second homer of the year and put down a critical sacrifice bunt late in the game that helped Lincoln score the go ahead run. A trio of Saltdogs relievers including Adam Daniels allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings after starter Zach Kline put Lincoln in position to win by surrendering just two runs on three hits in 6 2/3 innings. No hitter for either side had more than one hit in the contest.

Wichita 4, Sioux City 3

Wichita rallied from a 3-1 deficit with three runs in the seventh inning to clip Sioux City 4-3. The Wingnuts chased Explorers starter Nick Singleton and added a run off reliever Ty Marotz with six hits in the frame. The rally and fine work from the Wichita bullpen made a winner out of Gabe Medina who went seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out six. With the win he upped his mark to 6-2. Richard Salazar got the final two outs for his third save of the season. The Wichita offense spread the hits around as four players had multi-hit games.
