Exhibition Season Begins Thursday

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries will begin their six-game exhibition schedule on Thursday morning with an 11:30 a.m. game at Midway Stadium against the St. Paul Saints. The exhibition season features a stop in Sioux Falls on Sunday, May 7, when the Canaries host the Sioux City Explorers at the Birdcage in a 2:05 p.m. game.

The Canaries exhibition game on Sunday will take place in conjunction with the Canaries 2006 Tryout. At 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, the Canaries will hold an open tryout. From that tryout, nine players will be selected to play in Sunday's game. Each player will get to play one inning in right field, and if fortune permits they will get a chance to bat.

After tomorrow's game with the Saints, the Canaries will head to Huron, SD where they will host their Twin Cities rival in a May 5 game to benefit the Huron Community Foundation. The Canaries will return to St. Paul for a game on May 6 before coming back to Sioux Falls to host the Explorers. On May 9, the Canaries travel to Wakefield, NE to play Sioux City. The exhibition season wraps up on May 10, when the Canaries play the Saints in Yankton, SD to benefit the Yankton Optimist Club.

The Canaries will open the 2006 regular season on Friday, May 12 when the team hosts the St. Joe Blacksnakes for their Season PREMIER presented by First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard.
