El Paso Diablos News Release
EL PASO, TX-Matt LaBranche has been named the new General Manager of the El Paso Diablos.
LaBranche has spent the majority of the past eight years in professional sports. The Plymouth State University graduate spent four years with the Texas Rangers Florida Operations department, including time as the Director of Florida Operations at their Port Charlotte, FL complex.
He has since primarily been working in the NBA Development League, first as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Columbus (GA) franchise before moving on to be Vice President of Business Operations for the Florida Flame in Fort Myers, FL the past year and a half.
But he has always had a special place for baseball.
"My heart has always been with baseball," says LaBranche. "Career opportunities have led me another direction but I can now get back to my roots."
"I'm excited to be in a position to provide affordable entertainment for families throughout the area. I take a lot of pleasure watching families having a great time together out at the ballpark. I'm thrilled to come to El Paso and join the Diablo's organization, and my family and I look forward to being a part of the El Paso community."
"We are so fortunate to have Matt come aboard as our General Manager," says Principal Owner and Team President Mark Schuster. "He has a proven track record as a leader everywhere he has been."
LaBranche says fans can expect that excitement to be visible.
"The biggest thing I bring is energy. I'm passionate for what I do, which is to provide family entertainment as well as opportunities for sponsors to grow their business by partnering with us."
LaBranche replaces Jeff Stewart who recently left the organization.
The Diablos begin the 2006 season Thursday, May 11, at the Coastal Bend Aviators and play their home opener Monday, May 15, against the Fort Worth Cats at 7:05pm.
