Boise Hawks News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - A four-run first inning was all Everett needed, as the Aquasox opened up a five-game series with the Boise Hawks, posting a 6-2 victory before 2,357 fans at Memorial Stadium.
Terry Serrano led off the first with a single, moving to third on a Robbie Anston base hit. After a walk to Kevin Mailloux, Kevin Rivers lined an RBI single to right to make it 1-0. Back-to-back passed balls allowed two runs to score, pushing the margin to 3-0, with a Hawkins Gebbers sacrifice fly making it 4-0.
Trailing 5-0 in the fifth, the Hawks rallied, getting an RBI single from Elliot Soto and a sacrifice fly by Pierre LePage. Boise would bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but LePage struck out on a high fastball by reliever Jorden Merry.
Merry got the win for the Aquasox, tossing three and a third innings of no-hit relief, fanning six. Serrano went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the win.
Alvaro Ramirez went 2-for-5 in the loss for the Hawks, extending his hitting streak to ten games.
Game 2 is tomorrow night, with lefties Austin Kirk and Anthony Fernandez meeting at 8:05 p.m.
