Everett Silvertips News Release
The Everett Silvertips downed division rivals, the Portland Winterhawks, by a 3-2 decision at the Everett Events Center. This was the first meeting of ten between these two clubs this season. Everett is in 2nd place in the US Division with 13 points and a 6-1-0-1 record. The Winterhawks, who reside in 4th, have a 3-5 history with six points.
Kyle Beach, Peter Mueller and Jason Fransoo all contributed goals in tonight's win over the Winterhawks. Halfway through the first period on Silvertips' power play, Beach popped a puck through traffic to put Everett on top 1-0. In the second, Mueller padded the team's lead while he waited on the doorstep for Beach's pass. Then late in the same period on another Everett power play, Jason Fransoo tipped one in to end the period at 3-0.
In the third Portland tried to rally with two goals of their own. The first came from Colton Sceviour 13 seconds into the period. Their second was earned by Viktor Sjodin, who found the puck resting on the goal line and pushed it in.
Posting assists for the Silvertips tonight were Zach Hamill with two, Kyle Beach, Moises Gutierrez, Eric Doyle and Lukas Vartovnik all with one a piece. In between the pipes for Everett tonight was a Silvertip newcomer, David Reekie. Reekie earned his first win in a Silvertips' uniform after he stopped 19/21 saves. He bumps his record to 2-3. Kurtis Mucha, the Winterhawks' netminder, made 27 saves on 30 shots and falls to 3-4. On the power play only Everett could convert on two chances of twelve while Portland went scoreless on eleven opportunities. The Silvertips out shot the Winterhawks 30-21.
The Everett Silvertips are home again tomorrow night, October 15th, where they will drop the puck against the new expansion team, the Chilliwack Bruins. The match begins at 5:05pm.
