Eveland Promoted to Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (JUNE 28, 2011) - The Winston-Salem Dash announced today that INF Kyle Eveland has been promoted to Winston from low-A Kannapolis. There is no corresponding roster move at this time.

Eveland was hitting .228 with four home runs and 27 RBI for low-A Kannapolis. He was signed by the White Sox organization as a non-drafted free agent before the 2011 season. Eveland played last year in the independent Frontier League for the Traverse City Beach Bums, where he hit .239 with one home runs and 14 RBI in 37 games. In 2009, Eveland played for the Sioux Falls Canaries of the independent American Association and hit .266 with four doubles and nine RBI.

He played baseball at Chico State University (CA) and as a senior led the Wildcats to an NCAA Tournament appearance. The Valencia, CA native hit .347 during his senior year. Previously, Eveland attended the College of the Canyons Community College and was drafted in the 43rd round of the 2006 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers but elected to attend Chico. He is the brother of one-time major league pitcher Dana Eveland, who now plays for AAA Albuquerque in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He's pitched in 95 major league games and owns a 16-22 record and a 5.74 ERA.

The Dash roster has reached the Carolina League limit of 25.
