Evansville Otters News Release

Pitcher Trevor Walch is coming back to the Otters this summer after signing a contract extension on Wednesday.

Walch began his professional career with Evansville in 2013 season, making 17 appearances including seven starts.

"The rookie season to me was a great opportunity," said Walch. "I had always dreamed what it'd be like to play professional baseball. I was truly blessed."

Walch finished the year 3-3 with a 3.36 earned run average while also boasting a 2:1 strikeout to walk ratio.

"I am grateful to be in an Otters uniform again this season," added Walch. "The fans and community make it an incredible atmosphere to play in. Now that I have a year under my belt, I can settle down and put the "freshman" feeling out of me."

Otters manager Andy McCauley liked what he saw from the former Northeastern State University pitcher.

"Trevor threw very well for us last year and hopefully he can repeat his success," said McCauley. "He will compete for a starting role and can also be used in the bullpen."

The Otters start the 2014 season on the road at the Normal CornBelters on May 16. Otters Opening Day will take place on Wednesday, May 21st at historic Bosse Field with a unique doubleheader against the Rockford Aviators. First pitch will take place at 5:35 pm CT.

Businesses interested in participating with the Otters through advertising, group outings, or season tickets should call the Otters front office at (812) 435-8686.

The Otters also offer paid internships to college students as well. The internships are available in the concessions and group outings fields. Expected start date is May 1, 2014. Those interested can email their cover letter and resume to ottersbb@evansville.net .
