
Evansville Defeats Washington 6-2

EVANSVILLE, IN - The Washington Wild Things finished their series with the Evansville Otters Thursday at Bosse Field in a 6-2 final score loss. Starting pitcher Chase Cunningham finished with a 4.79 ERA and two strikeouts in the loss. Evansville's Shane Weedman picked up the win, striking out seven and finishing the day with a 3.14 ERA.

The Otters got out to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st, jumping out to a 5-0 lead. A pair of RBI doubles from Nik Balog and Chris Breen gave the Otters a 2-0 lead. Jeff Gardner followed up with an RBI ground rule double, extending the lead to 3-0. Denzel Richardson and Kolten Yamaguchi tacked on two more runs to make it 5-0 Evansville.

The Wild Things fired back with a solo home run from Kyle Pollock in the top of the 2nd and an RBI double from David Popkins in the top of the 3rd to cut the lead to 5-2. A double from Christopher Riopedre set up a Chris Breen RBI single that put the game out of reach with a final of 6-2.

The Wild Things continue their road trip as they travel to CarShield Field to begin a three game series with the River City Rascals starting Friday night.
